Judging Process
Round One
For each Demographic Category, Kidscreen will assemble a first-round panel of four mid-level programming execs and respected kids producers who aren’t currently attached to a particular studio. (All four will either be currently working in the demographic they’re judging, or will have a lot of past work experience targeting that demo.) They will assess all of the entries we receive for the awards in their respective Demographic Category on a scorecard against a provided set of criteria that covers each of the creative components covered by the Creative Talent Award categories. Based on cumulative scores, the three top-scoring programs/websites in each award will make it onto a shortlist.
Round Two
A second panel of Demographic Category judges, comprised of senior-level programming execs will take a fresh look at the 12 shortlisted programs/websites in their respective Demographic Category, using the same scorecard and criteria. Their scores will determine a winner in each of the awards.
Creative Talent Awards
The Creative Talent Award winners will be determined by the cumulative scores given for each corresponding creative component by the first-round and second-round judging panels.
Viewers Choice Awards
We are privileged again this year to work with the top-notch international research team at Nickelodeon Consumer Insights on this part of the Kidscreen Awards. Setting up a network of focus groups spanning all three age ranges in the US, the UK, France, Germany, Australia, Japan and Brazil, NCI will help us share our nominated programs with real kids and parents from around the world. They will vote for their overall favorites and the show with the most votes in each Demographic Category will win.
