Alma's Way: Alma on the Case!

Alma on the Case!, also available in Spanish as ¡Alma en el Caso!, is an extension of ALMA’S WAY, the vibrant TV series for children 4-6 years old, inviting children to think through graphic-novel mystery stories. Reading alongside Alma, children sleuth just like Carlotta Clues, Alma’s favorite detective heroine from the show, and uncover what happened to each story’s missing item. The game provides tools for children, even pre-readers, to think through these stories themselves, allowing them to collect clues from the story pages and imagine possible explanations for each mystery.

Aiming to make the game as accessible as possible, we designed an approachable reading experience for all ages that is widely available, free of charge, and light enough to be used on most devices. We created a library of visual stories in both English and Spanish, with additional stories launching in Fall 2024 and Spring 2025. We also designed a guided system for solving mysteries using each story’s clues, modeled after the way that Alma approaches problems in the TV series, giving children a scaffolded chance to do as Alma does: Think it through.

In three months, the game has had 1.85 million plays across web and mobile.
