Saïd & Anna

NPO Zappelin

Phanta Basta!, INDI Film

Saïd and Anna are playing store. They have gathered old toys to fill their store with. Saïd buys a pink skate from Anna. But what can he do with just one skate? Anna, with the same sceptical look on her face as Saïd, looks at the fake money in the toy cash register. Sameer and Zonia have to leave for a minute. They close the store while they are gone. But after the parents leave, the children open the Repair Shop again and step behind the counter. Playing store for real is much more fun. Mrs Santjes comes in to collect her repaired alarm clock. But how much money should they ask for it? When they mention a high amount, they see Mrs Santjes’ startled face. Quickly they lower the amount. Mrs Santjes agrees, pays the amount and leaves. That was easy! The next customer is a businessman with a blue suitcase. The wheel is broken and needs to be repaired. The children tell him they can do that. The man waits patiently while the children start working on the suitcase in the workshop. But that is when things start going south. With a nail they accidentally crack the plastic wheel. They try to solder it, but the wheel melts and now there is nothing left. The children panic. Now what? And soon Zonia and Sameer will be back as well.... Then Saïd remembers the pink skate he bought from Anna. Its wheels look exactly like the ones on the suitcase. They quickly remove two wheels from the skate and attach them to the suitcase. They fit. They jump when they hear voices. Sameer and Zonia are surprised when the customer tells them Saïd and Anna are helping him. They call out to the children. Nervously, Saïd and Anna walk into the store with the suitcase. Zonia and Sameer want to get angry, but then they see how happy the customer is with the pink wheels. He will now be able to recognise his suitcase right away among all the other suitcases. Saïd and Anna think they will get a scolding for opening the store. But Sameer and Zonia are pleasantly surprised by the businessman's enthusiastic response. 'Where did you guys get the pink wheels,' they want to know. 'From our own store!’ the children exclaim proudly. They now look at their old toys in a whole new light. Who knows what else they can use them for?!
