Wood Carving Arts
Wood Carving Arts is a unique digital game which accompanies the Molly of Denali animated series, featuring traditional Alaska Native wood carving tools and methods. Set in Mr. Patak’s Woodshop, players are taught how to traditionally carve a variety of wood projects–from a bowl to a spoon, and even an Alaska Native whistle! Aimed at audiences aged 4-8, the simple, single-screen interactives highlights numerous project options, and a variety of tasks in each project provides a personalized playthrough with loads of potential for learning and replayability. Developed alongside University of Alaska professor and Tlingit artist Dakaxeen Mehner, this game does a beautiful job of transforming the historical 3D physical art medium of Alaska Native peoples into an engaging 2D digital experience that is accessible to audiences far and wide - allowing kids from across the country to learn and experience an Indigenous craft they may otherwise not have exposure to.
We are honored and proud to bring this traditional art form to life in a digital format. Mahsi’ choo, thank you, for your consideration.
