Super Bowl LVIII: Live from Bikini Bottom
Nickelodeon
Nickelodeon
The Super Bowl is the biggest sports game of the year, and Super Bowl LVIII was bigger and better than ever via Nickelodeon’s broadcast of the game. On February 11, 2024, the San
Francisco 49ers and Kansas City Chiefs went head-to-head live from Bikini Bottom. Along with the teams, the nail-biting game featured broadcaster Noah Eagle, commentator and former NFL player Nate Burleson, co-hosts SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star, and sideline reporter Sandy Cheeks. Dora the Explorer, Larry the Lobster, and other Nickelodeon IP made guest appearances throughout the night, adding commentary and educational tidbits during plays.
Visual and special effects, such as green slime and the iconic Nickelodeon blimp-turned-submarine, added another layer of eye-catching graphics throughout the broadcast. The
combination of live action and animated characters created a dynamic environment for an already-energetic game, which ended with a Chiefs’ victory.
