Funexpected Math

What's the secret that makes apps outstanding while others are just good? Outstanding apps engage a child in immersive worlds where aesthetics and storytelling serve an influentional mission.

Our mission is to give each child an ideal start with math at an early age – full of adventures, experiments, creativity, jokes, and friendly characters. So, we've built a math world for it! It invites children to experiment, is safe to make mistakes, and grows with the child. It's the math learning we would have wanted as kids.

Last year, we fully redesigned the app experience and introduced a personal Learning path for kids, including five learning formats and a digital AI tutor.

We start with putting abstract math concepts at children's fingertips. They touch them, move them, bend them, play and manipulate them – as much as they need to truly understand them.

Explaining coordinates to a four-year-old? Not a problem! In our new game, kids become pilots, navigating a small ship through dangerous seas. The catch? You need both hands to control the ship! The right hand manages horizontal moves, while the left controls vertical moves. Now, children try to figure out how to move their hands to keep the ship on the route. While they try and try again, children grasp the concept with their bodies first. Then there goes the "click," the "aha!" moment when understanding moves from the body to the brain.

This approach is called embodied learning, and its principles are deeply rooted in neuroscience. It's a perfect way to introduce abstract math concepts to kids who naturally struggle with abstractions.

Ready to move to fluency? Our AI tutor steps in, scaffolding the learning, offering oral tasks and guiding questions while talking buddies support the child and provide hints when needed.

How effective is this approach? A study at the University of Chicago chose four quality math apps, including Funexpected Math, and showed that kids playing with them in a home setting without supervision make progress three times faster than with standard schooling.

Tomorrow's college students are in kindergarten right now. By age 9, two out of three kids will be already behind in math; by age 13, it's three out of four. We want to change these statistics. The Funexpected Math world shapes a child's experience with math for years to come, giving confidence and top math skills.

The app speaks 16 languages and is suitable for every family, fitting in a pocket and always with you on a trip or at home, providing the best possible start in math for any child from any background.
