CURSES! is a comedic “gateway horror” adventure series for kids about a family cursed by their ancestors’ pillaging of ancient artifacts from all across the globe. When the curse turns their father, Alexander Vanderhouven, to stone, it’s up to his wife and kids to return all the stolen artifacts to their rightful homes in order to lift the curse and save their family. It’s Indiana Jones in reverse; not finding artifacts, but returning them. By engaging with the artifacts to understand where they truly belong, the Vanderhouvens practice an empathy not shown by their ancestors. By doing this they are able to right the wrongs of their past and rectify their family legacy.

After capturing a Golden Baboon Head trying to escape their house, Russ finds an old photo of a carved temple that perfectly matches the Head. The kids theorize that if the curse was started by doing this artifact wrong, then maybe by returning it to its rightful home in the Congo, and “doing right” by it, they could reverse the curse and bring back their dad.

In the Congo, the family discovers a nearby village being terrorized by an army of baboons who are stealing heads (doll heads, mannequin heads, etc). No one understands why they are doing this, but the kids suspect it’s related to the Baboon Temple.

Inside the Temple, the family finds themselves surrounded by the entire Baboon Army. Controlling them is a massive Golden Statue… missing its head. They realize all the other stolen heads were failed attempts at locating the Statue’s missing head. Using her skateboarding skills, Pandora evades the angry Baboons and reunites the Golden Statue’s Head with its body - breaking the curse!
